Title: Grow Your Own (GYO) - Educator Pathway Coordinator

Department: Regional Educator Network

Classification: Classified (Class M)

Supervised by: Program Director

Work YearAs assigned by the Superintedent (year round, approximately 220 days)

 

Job Purpose Statement:

The Grow Your Own (GYO) Educator Pathway Coordinator works collaboratively with districts in the 5 county region (Hood River, Wasco, Sherman, Wheeler, and Gilliam counties) and college/university partners to develop pathways to careers in education. This position also works closely with educator pathway participants to connect to programming that meets individual career goals and needs. This position is responsible for: developing an equitable framework for participation in the pathway, establishing partnerships with colleges and universities that leverages the strengths and resources of each partner, and collaborating with districts to utilize the pathway framework to meet the needs of their educators. This position is initially funded through the 23-25 biennium. 

 

Job Qualifications: 

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education, public administration, non-profit management, business administration, or related field. 
  • Master’s Degree in Education or related field preferred.
  • Must hold a current recognized first aid card or be willing to obtain the same if directed by the district under ORS 342.664 (2).

Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required

  • Valid Oregon Teaching License – Preferred
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance
  • Valid Driver’s License and evidence of insurability

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities 

  • Bilingual/bicultural in Spanish preferred.
  • Experience in managing or coordinating grant-funded projects.
  • Ability to support project partners across racial, cultural, class, and gender differences.
  • Training or experience in collecting and analyzing qualitative (e.g., focus groups and interviews) and quantitative (e.g., survey, administrative records) data to identify program strengths and opportunities for improvement and measure progress and program impact. 
  • Commitment to addressing disproportionality in the educator workforce that exists across race, ethnicity, ability, income, geography, and language.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, facilitating teams, and/or facilitating professional learning.
  • Experience managing multiple relationships with stakeholders who represent a broad cross-section of the community through a strong ethic of serving educators, professionalism, and integrity.
  • Creative self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity and improvisation.
  • Strong skills with Google Suite tools, especially Google Drive, Docs, Forms, and Sheets.
  • Successful history of group facilitation and event coordination with different audiences in different settings.
  • Excellent verbal, written, electronic, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel between multiple worksites.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry our detailed and basic written or oral instructions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with all program staff and stakeholders.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Develop a strategic plan to meet the regional goals of the Grow Your Own Educator Pathway.
  2.   Convene and facilitate a group of GYO decision makers that uses data and research to guide and inform strategy and implementation. 
  3.   Establishes and maintains relationships with district, college, and university partners.
  4.   Plans and executes marketing strategies for GYO opportunities.
  5.   Liaises with the ESD fiscal department, districts, colleges/universities, and other ESD departments as needed.
  6.   Closely monitors budget and regularly reports out to stakeholders with budget updates.
  7.   Prepares and submits quarterly and yearly reports to the Oregon Department of Education within required timelines.
  8.   Coordinates and tracks program evaluation and impact measurement (outcome data). Regularly reports results and outcomes to stakeholders. 
  9.   Develop a tracking system for enrollment, placement, and retention of GYO participants. 
  10. Communicates with and supports program participants.
  11. Coordinates and facilitates regional convenings (including, but not limited to: information sessions for prospective candidates, cohort learning sessions, licensure support, and/or professional learning opportunities for participants).
  12. Interfaces with Educator Advancement Council, CGESD Department of Education and Innovation, and Columbia Regional Educator Network regularly.
  13. Attends and participates in professional learning, training, and/or conferences to stay informed of industry trends, research and practices relevant to GYO pathways.
  14. Works collaboratively across departments, teams, and districts to leverage and connect regional efforts and initiatives.     
  15. Perform other related duties, as assigned to support the success of the agency and Regional Educator Network.

Note: CGESD is currently in the midst of contract negotiations. The posted salary is based on the 2021-23 expired contract. Wages are expected to increase, but the exact amount is not yet known.
